Safety Information

ABTA, ATOL and Safety
Q. Are Emerald Cruises protected by ATOL and ABTA?
A. Yes: ATOL Number 9294, ABTA Number Y6328,
Q. Why book with an ABTA member?
A.

As ABTA members we are committed to delivering the highest standards for our customers by signing up to ABTA's Code of Conduct. This encompasses areas such as accurate advertising, fair terms of trading, changes to bookings and managing customer complaints.

As travel professionals with extensive knowledge of the destinations we visit we can offer an authentic insight into what a destination is like. We’ll also be able to explain how your trip may differ in light of the coronavirus pandemic. In addition, we can provide guidance around entry and visa requirements, particularly for travelling in Europe from 1 January 2021, after the end of the EU transition period.

Q. What protection does ABTA offer?
A. By booking with an ABTA member you can rest assured that you are financially protected in the event of any unforeseen circumstances and, as a result, your holiday is unable to go ahead. This includes ATOL protection which ensures that all flight-based packages are also protected.
Q. Do the ships provide mobility-wheelchair access?
A. We welcome passengers with medical conditions or disabilities, and are able to provide mobility provision when notified in writing of a person's needs prior to boarding. However, please be aware that there may be limitations on board and during excursions. Some of our ships do not have elevators, and where there is an elevator on board it may not access all decks. While collapsible wheelchairs are permitted on board under appropriate circumstances, you must be able to climb up and down stairs on coaches, and some excursions may require you to negotiate cobblestones or climb steps.

In addition, standard suites and bathrooms have significant thresholds and cabin doors which limit access, meaning they may not be wide enough to allow access to many wheelchairs. Please speak to a member of our team about your requirements prior to booking so that we can offer information on mobility and access.
Q. Is it safe to travel to/in each of the countries?
A. If you have concerns about the safety of any destinations on your cruise or tour itinerary, we’d recommend making your own enquiries before you travel. The government’s foreign travel advice page offers up-to-date safety information on all the destinations listed on the Emerald Cruises website; this resource can be accessed, here.
Q. Is there an emergency contact for the ship?
A. Full email and telephone contact details for the ship can be found in your final documents.
Q. What are the safety regulations on board Emerald Cruises ships?
A. After boarding your Emerald Cruises ship, our crew will run through a brief safety demonstration, highlighting the relevant safety information, as well the emergency procedure. Our ships are built to the highest specification to ensure complete guest safety, and feature a range of life-saving equipment, including sprinkler systems.
