This past week has been an exciting one for Emerald Cruises. As well as christening our two lovely new Star-Ships, Emerald Sun and Emerald Dawn, we are thrilled to announce that we’re expanding even further for 2017, with plans for three more ships in the pipelines.
Christened by Godmother Julie Kendrick
Much like proud parents waving their teenagers off to pastures new, we saw the Emerald Sun and Emerald Dawn off in style last Friday. Departing from Budapest to start a river cruise on the Danube, the Emerald Sun was christened by the winner of our travel agent competition Julie Kendrick, who you can see below looking glorious on the Sun Deck.

Three new ships planned
As well as the launch of our two new additions, we are planning to launch three more state-of-the-art ships in 2017.
The new ships will be identical sisterships to the Star-Ships in our existing fleet. Our ships have some fantastic features and these will be retained in these new additions, including the indoor pool that turns into a cinema at night, gym, Wellness Area and a number of different dining options. They will have four cabin grades. Find out more about our fleet here.
With these new additions, plus Emerald Belle set for delivery in 2016, our total fleet size will expand to eight ships in 2017 and David Winterton, our marketing manager is confident that there is more to come:
“All the trends suggest that river cruising will become bigger and bigger.”
Cheers to that!
